The handwritten Wayne County register records Donald L. Staley and carries the parent columns across the facing pages to Stephen and Anna H. Staley.
What it provesIt supplies Stephen and Anna H. Staley as parents on the same date used in Daniel's later indexed entry.
What it does not proveIt does not explain why the child is called Donald rather than Daniel; the conflict requires correlation.

The Ironton newspaper reports Stephen Staley's marriage to Phelinda A. H. Gardner on the fifth, independently matching the official 5 June 1853 marriage.
